ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

The electric-boat crossing of Kozjak is the included boat ride at the heart of a Plitvice visit. The boats run the length of the park’s largest and deepest lake, connecting the Upper Lakes trailheads with the Lower Lakes and saving a long walk around the shore. Because the boats are electric, they are silent and leave the protected water undisturbed, and the crossing is the calmest way to see the scale of a single Plitvice lake — the deep blue-green water, the forested shores and, from the middle, the sense of the whole park folded around you.

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

What you’ll experience

You board at one of the landings on Kozjak’s shore and ride the length of the lake to the opposite landing, a crossing of roughly twenty minutes. The boat is open and quiet, the water below is clear enough to see the lake bed in the shallows, and the shores pass slowly enough to take in the forest and the inlets. From the boat you pass Šupljara island and arrive at the landing that connects to the boardwalks of the other section. The ride is included in the park ticket — no separate fare.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Good to know before you go

The boats run on a published timetable in season and are included in the park entrance ticket. Boarding is at the marked landings; in busy periods there can be a short queue. The boats are open to the weather, so dress for the day. The crossing is gentle and suitable for all visitors, including those who prefer to avoid the longer walks.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters

The Kozjak boat is what makes a full Plitvice circuit possible in a day — it connects the two halves of the park without a long detour — and it is the one experience that lets you sit and take in a single lake at scale rather than walking its edge.
