ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
Lisina is the highest point of Kozara, at 978 metres, reached on a forest trail for a broad view over the wooded park and the plains of the Krajina. It is the peak objective of a Kozara visit, a prepared-hiker destination rather than a casual stroll, and the view from the top is the reward for the climb. No exact canonical visitor point for the peak is independently verified here, so no coordinate is given for Lisina; the destination coordinate marks the Mrakovica visitor area and is not a substitute for the peak. Check forest, weather and seasonal conditions before setting out, remain on recognised routes, and do not assume the trail or the peak are accessible or safe in all conditions.
HISTORY & BACKGROUND
The story behind it
Lisina is the highest summit of the Kozara massif, long known to the people of the Krajina and the destination of the park’s principal peak walk. The forest that covers its slopes is the same beech and fir woodland that defines the park as a whole, and the summit has been a viewpoint over the Krajina for generations of walkers.
WHAT TO SEE
What to see here
The summit — the highest point of Kozara at 978 metres, the objective of the peak walk.
The view over the park — the broad panorama of the wooded mountain from its top.
The view over the Krajina — the plains of northern Bosnia seen from the summit.
The forest approach — the beech and fir woodland crossed on the way up.
WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
Lisina is the high-point objective of a Kozara visit and the place from which the park and the Krajina are seen at their widest. For a visitor it is the demanding objective that stands above the memorial and the forest walks, undertaken only with suitable conditions and preparation.
