ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
Founded in 1791 on the initiative of the merchant Dimitrije Anastasijević Sabov, the Karlovci Gymnasium was the first Serbian secondary school; the Orthodox Seminary followed in 1794. The school still operates — one of Serbia’s oldest continuously working institutions — and its museum holds the historic library, early textbooks and the story of Serbian schooling from the Enlightenment to Yugoslavia.
