ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Catania is Sicily’s second city on the Ionian coast, rebuilt in black lava-stone Baroque after the 1693 earthquake and set beneath the active cone of Mount Etna. Its UNESCO-listed centre, the fish market and the Roman amphitheatre in Piazza Stesicoro make it the natural base for the Etna vineyards and the eastern Sicilian coast.
