ABOUT THIS ITINERARY

The full northeast Adriatic story in three days: the refugee island with its basilicas, the imperial city that burned behind it, and the port empire that inherited the sea — with the lagoon and the karst as the connective landscape and cycling as the way between.

OVERVIEW

The route at a glance

Day one is Grado itself — old town, lagoon boat, beach. Day two crosses to Aquileia for the Roman city and returns via the thermal baths. Day three runs the coast to Trieste for the Piazza Unità, Miramare and the Opicina tram panorama.
