ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Lake Maggiore is the second-largest of the Italian lakes, straddling Piedmont and Lombardy before spilling into Switzerland, ringed by gardens, villas and the Borromean Islands. Stresa is its grand resort town, a 19th-century lakeside promenade facing the Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori beneath the Mottarone ridge.
