ABOUT THIS ITINERARY
One day on Mljet is enough for the national park — and the day below strings the park’s essentials into a single, unhurried circuit that still leaves room for two swims and a long lunch. It works as a day-trip from Dubrovnik (catamaran to Sobra or Pomena in season) or as a day of an island-hopping itinerary, and it is built around bike rental at Pomena so the walking is kept to the minimum the islet crossing requires.
OVERVIEW
The route at a glance
Morning: land at Pomena, rent bikes, ride the full Veliko Jezero lakeshore circuit clockwise, swimming at the platforms as the morning warms. Late morning: lock the bikes at the jetty and take the shuttle to the St Mary monastery islet — church, cloister and the lake panorama. Lunch at a konoba in Pomena or Goveđari. Afternoon: ride out to Polače for the Roman palace walls and a swim in the bay, or add the Malo Jezero woods circuit for a second, quieter loop. Return the bikes for the afternoon boat.
