ABOUT THIS ITINERARY
Two days is what Mljet deserves: the first for the national park at its own pace — including the Montokuc viewpoint most day-trippers never see — and the second for the island beyond the park, the ridge-road loop to Odysseus Cave, Saplunara’s sand and the stone villages. An overnight in Pomena or Goveđari unlocks the park at dusk and dawn, the two hours when it is at its best.
OVERVIEW
The route at a glance
Day one: the park — morning lakeshore cycle, monastery islet, lunch, the Montokuc climb for the both-lakes panorama, then sunset on the lake and konoba dinner. Day two: drive over the island to the southern coast — Odysseus Cave at midday light, Saplunara for an afternoon on the sand, Babino Polje for a late lunch or early dinner, and the north-coast hamlets on the way back to Sobra.
