ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Orvieto is an Umbrian city perched on a sheer tufa plateau above the Paglia valley, settled since Etruscan times and reached by a funicular from the station below. Its golden Gothic cathedral, with Signorelli’s frescoes of the Last Judgment, the medieval well of San Patrizio and the network of underground Etruscan caves make it one of central Italy’s most striking hill towns.
