ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Gorica Park and the Morača banks are Podgorica’s green escape — the forested hill of Gorica that gives the city its name, and the riverside paths that run along the Morača through the centre. Podgorica is one of the greenest capitals in the region, and this is where that shows: shaded paths up the hill through pines, and a riverside promenade along the Morača between the bridges. It is the place locals come to walk, run and escape the summer heat, and the easiest way to see the city’s gentler side on a transit day.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Good to know before you go

Gorica Park and the Morača banks are public and open at all times, free to walk. The hill paths are gently graded and shaded; the riverside promenade is flat and paved. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable times; in summer the walk is best early or late, as Podgorica’s summers are very hot. The paths are suitable for all fitness levels and make a pleasant break on a transit day.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters

Podgorica is usually a transit city rather than a destination, and Gorica Park and the Morača banks are the part of it that rewards a stop — the green, shaded core that the modern city is built around. For a visitor with a few hours between the coast and the mountains, it is the easiest way to see the capital’s gentler side without committing to a full day.
