ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Ravenna is a small Emilian city that was three times a capital — of the Western Roman Empire, of the Ostrogoths and of the Byzantine exarchate — and holds eight UNESCO-listed early-Christian monuments covered in glittering Byzantine mosaics. The Basilica of San Vitale, the mausoleums of Galla Placidia and Theodoric and Dante’s tomb make it one of the great art cities of northern Italy.
