ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Vinča village lives from the river as it always has: the catch comes off the boats in the morning and lands, grilled or in stew, on the riverside terraces by noon. The classic order is fiš — a paprika-red fish stew — followed by grilled carp or catfish with kajmak and onions, under pergolas that look straight down at the current. The restaurants cluster on the bank below the archaeological site; most take only cash and no bookings, and the local white wine (Slankamen, across the river) comes in Litre.
