Vršac has made wine since Roman times; the 20th-century Vršački vinogradi was Yugoslavia’s largest producer, and the village of Gudurica (a Banat Swabian foundation) still grows the region’s finest slopes — Rhine riesling, blanc, and the local kreacija whites. Small cellar doors now pour what the giant cooperative once shipped.
