ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Brač is the largest of the Central Dalmatian islands, known for the white limestone quarried here since antiquity — the stone of Diocletian’s Palace and the White House — and for the Golden Horn (Zlatni Rat) beach at Bol, a horn of pebbles that shifts with the wind. Its interior holds Vidova Gora, the highest peak of any Adriatic island, with a view down to the Golden Horn.

HISTORY & CULTURE
The Story Behind the Place
Brač has been quarried for its white limestone since Roman times, and the stone was used for Diocletian’s Palace in Split and, much later, for parts of the White House in Washington. The island’s villages grew around the quarries and olive groves, and Bol became its resort centre around the Golden Horn beach.
