ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Camping around Cavtat is a Konavle-coast experience rather than a town one: Cavtat’s peninsulas and bayfront are hotel-and-apartment territory with no campsite and no wild camping, and the nearest legal pitches are in Molunat, a small fishing and tourism village at the southern end of the Konavle region, roughly twenty kilometres from Cavtat by the coast road. The village holds several small auto camps — family-run, basic, and set within a short walk of the sea — and the setting is the point: a quiet bay, clear water, and the protected cape of Prevlaka closing the horizon to the south. For campervan travellers the pattern that works is to camp in Molunat or at the Dubrovnik-area camps and day-trip north to Cavtat along the scenic coast road.

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

What you’ll experience

The Molunat camps are small and simple: pitches for tents and campervans under trees or on open ground, with electricity, toilets and showers, and the bay and its beaches a few minutes’ walk away. The village itself has a shop, cafés and konobas, a harbour for small boats, and swimming on the pebble and rock shore. Evenings are quiet — this is a rest-and-sea camp rather than an activity resort — and the location suits touring by car or motorbike: the Konavle valley, the Prevlaka cape and the Montenegrin border are all short rides away.

THE EXPERIENCE IN DETAIL

What it’s really like

Camping near Cavtat happens at the Molunat auto camps, 20 km south on the Konavle coast — small, family-run seafront camps with basic facilities, a quiet bay and easy day-trip access to Cavtat.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Good to know before you go

The two best-established camps are Auto kamp Marinero and Auto kamp Adriatic 1, both in or just off Molunat village; both offer electricity, toilets and showers, and Adriatic 1 sits directly at the sea. Expect simple facilities rather than resort services — verify current opening seasons, prices and availability locally, as small camps change their arrangements year to year. Wild camping and overnight campervan parking are not permitted around Cavtat’s bay and peninsulas, and enforcement is active in summer. The coast road from Cavtat to Molunat is narrow in places but fully paved.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters

Camping is the one accommodation type Cavtat cannot offer in town, and Molunat is where the region keeps it — a low-key, nature-first alternative to the Cavtat waterfront that pairs naturally with a road trip through Konavle. For campervan and tent travellers it is the practical answer to staying on this stretch of coast.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Before you go

Access
Molunat is about twenty kilometres south of Cavtat on the coast road through the Konavle region; the camps are signposted from the village.
Planning
Verify current campsite names, opening seasons, prices and availability locally — no operators, prices or schedules are given here. Book nothing in advance for most pitches; arrive early in July and August.
Conditions
Basic facilities: electricity, toilets, showers; one camp sits directly at the sea. Shops and konobas are in the village; stock up on larger supplies in Gruda or Cavtat.
Respect
Wild camping is not permitted around Cavtat or the Konavle coast — use the campsites, keep pitches tidy, and mind fire risk in the dry summer maquis.
