ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
Old Perithia sits at 450 metres under the massif of Pantokrator, a Venetian-era stone village of some 130 listed houses — evacuated to the coast when piracy died out, now half-restored with a couple of tavernas among the ruins. It is the trailhead for the island’s classic hike: a 10-kilometre round trip, 500 metres up, through oaks and karst to the 906-metre summit, where a 14th-century monastery stands beside telecom masts and the view runs from Albania across the whole island to the mainland mountains.
