ABOUT THIS ITINERARY
Two days give Pelješac its full spread: the first for the east’s walls, salt and oysters plus the wine road’s cellars; the second for the west’s mountain and channel — the Sv. Ilija climb or its viewpoint alternatives, the windsurf villages of Viganj and Kučište, and the sea-captain town of Orebić facing Korčula.
OVERVIEW
The route at a glance
Day one anchors at Ston and the wine road; day two moves west — the mountain for the fit, the beach and channel for everyone, and Orebić for the evening. Sleep near Orebić the second night: the Korčula ferry and the Trstenica beach are both at the door.
THE SCHEDULE
Day by day
The east: walls, oysters and wine
The full Ston walls and salt pans, the Mali Ston oyster lunch, and the Dingač wine road through Potomje and the tunnel to a channel-side cellar evening.
- 08:00
The Walls of Ston and the salt pans
3 hoursThe full wall crossing in the cool of the morning, then the pan walk at the bay’s head — the walls’ whole purpose visible below.
- 12:30
Oyster lunch at Mali Ston
1.5 hoursThe bay’s oysters at the farm sheds, with the tower above the tables.
- 15:00
The wine road, Potomje and the tunnel
2 hoursThe ridge road through Janjina, the Potomje cellars, and the drive through the Dingač tunnel to the seaward terraces.
- 17:30
Tasting on the channel
2 hoursA Plavac mali tasting at a cellar above the water, and the channel-light evening before the drive back.
The west: the mountain, the wind and Orebić
The Sv. Ilija climb from Gornja Nakovana — or the Trstenica beach for the non-hikers — then the windsurf villages of Viganj and Kučište and the evening in Orebić.
- 07:30
Sv. Ilija from Gornja Nakovana
4–5 hoursThe two-hour climb from the abandoned hill village to the 961-metre summit — the channel and the islands from Hvar to Montenegro. Or trade it for Trstenica’s sand.
- 13:30
Lunch and the channel at Viganj
2 hoursA beach-level lunch at Viganj or Kučište, watching the afternoon sails fill the channel.
- 16:30
Orebić: the museum and the monastery view
2–3 hoursThe Maritime Museum’s captain stories, then the Franciscan terrace above the town for the channel panorama at golden hour.
- 19:30
Dinner in Orebić
2 hoursA fish dinner on the Orebić waterfront — with Korčula’s lights across the channel and the ferry coming and going.
