ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
The Valpolicella is the wine country northwest of Verona, a valley of vineyards, cherry orchards and medieval villages in the foothills of the Lessini mountains. It is the home of the Valpolicella wines and, above all, of Amarone — the rich dry red made from grapes dried through the winter before fermentation, a method that gives the wine its weight and its dried-fruit character. A day in the Valpolicella visits the historic estates — Allegrini, Quintarelli, Masi, Tommasi — and the villages of San Giorgio, Negrar and Fumane, with tastings of Amarone, Ripasso and Recioto in the cellars where they are made.
