ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

The Adige riverside is one of the most pleasant walks in Verona, and the crossing to the Roman theatre and the hill of San Pietro gives the best view of the old town. The Ponte Pietra, the oldest bridge in Verona, rebuilt in 1957 after the German destruction of 1945, leads across the river to the Roman theatre, built in the 1st century BC and now an open-air museum, and the steep climb above it to the Castel San Pietro gives a panorama over the whole old town — the Arena, the towers, the Adige and the hills. The walk is best done in the late afternoon, when the stone of the old town turns gold.
