ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION

Umoljani is a high-pasture village on the eastern side of Bjelašnica, a gentler summer walking destination than the southern rim, set among open meadows, old stone houses and the string of springs known as Studeni potok. The pastures around the village and the springs make for an easier highland walk than the canyon country, and the area is a quiet alternative for a summer day on the mountain. The coordinate given here marks Umoljani village itself, not every point along Studeni potok; the springs are reached on foot from the village. Access is seasonal and may be unsuitable or unavailable in winter, like the rest of the highland south of the resort.

HISTORY & BACKGROUND

The story behind it

Umoljani is a traditional highland village of the eastern Bjelašnica pastures, whose stone houses and seasonal grazing reflect the same transhumant pattern as Lukomir on the southern side. The Studeni potok springs have long been a feature of the local highland, and the village remains a lived-in settlement in the warmer months, quieter and less visited than Lukomir.
