ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
As well as the raft, the Una has an older, quieter way of being travelled: the traditional wooden river boats known as unski ladari, the boats that long carried people and goods along the Una and that now carry visitors when the experience is being run. A trip in an unski ladar is the gentle counterpart to a raft descent — a slow passage on the green water, reading the river, the banks and the islands from the quiet of a wooden boat rather than the splash of a raft. The experience is availability-dependent: it does not run on a fixed daily schedule, and it is offered when local operators are in a position to run it. For a visitor who finds it running, it is the most peaceful way to be on the Una at Bosanska Krupa.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
What you’ll experience
You take to the Una in a traditional wooden river boat — an unski ladar — with a local boatman, for a slow passage along the river around Bosanska Krupa. The experience is of the water at the pace of the boat: the green Una, the islands and the bridges seen from the level of the surface, the banks and the wooded islets drifting past, and the quiet of a wooden hull on a calm river. It is the river read as it was read for generations, before the engines and the rafts — a passage rather than a run.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Good to know before you go
Trips in the traditional unski ladari boats are availability-dependent: they are offered when local operators are running the experience, and they do not operate on a fixed daily or permanent schedule. Confirm availability for your dates before planning around it. The trip is a quiet, slow passage on the river, suitable for visitors who want the calm side of the Una rather than the active one; follow the operator’s guidance on what to bring and wear, and on any participant requirements.
WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
The unski ladari are the heritage of the Una — the boats that made the river a route before it was a recreation. A trip in one is the way to feel that older river, the Una as a quiet waterway rather than a rafting run, and it is the most peaceful experience the river at Bosanska Krupa offers.
