Bosanska Krupa lies on the M14 road that follows the Una north from Bihać, roughly 35–40 km downstream; by car the drive is under an hour. It is also reachable by road from Cazin and Ostrožac to the northwest, and from Prijedor and Banja Luka to the east. There is no rail link; a car or arranged transfer is the practical way in.
Outdoor riverside and fortress areas can generally be visited without booking; visitors should check current local access, maintenance closures, and Memorial House opening information before a dedicated visit. Carry BAM for small cafés and local services.
Allow one day for the walking loop of the fortress, the mills, the islands and the bridges, and a second half-day for the excursion by car to Vrelo Krušnice and Bosanska Otoka.
May to September for the greenest islands, the riverside life and the possibility of swimming in safe conditions. The walking loop and the bridges are enjoyable year-round.
Comfortable walking shoes with grip for the fortress path and the bridges, swimwear and a towel in the warm months, sun protection for the exposed islands, and some cash (BAM) for small riverside cafés and kiosks.
The central riverside, the bridges and the islands are mostly flat and are the most accessible part of a visit. The fortress of Pset is on a steep unpaved path and is not suitable for wheelchairs or limited mobility. Vrelo Krušnice and Bosanska Otoka involve natural, uneven terrain at the water’s edge.
