ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
What you’ll experience
Klagenfurt sits almost equidistant from two borders. West, the A11 puts you at Villach and the Faaker See in 30 minutes, where the Dreiländereck of Austria, Slovenia and Italy begins; south, the Karawanken tunnel or the scenic Loibl Pass drop into Slovenia, with Kranjska Gora and the Triglav edge about 40 minutes away. Both make honest day trips — swim in two countries in one day.
THE EXPERIENCE IN DETAIL

HIGHLIGHTS
Moments worth savouring
Villach and Faaker See (Austria) in 30 minutes

The Dreiländereck three-country corner
WHAT TO EXPECT
Good to know before you go
Austrian motorway vignette required; the Karawanken tunnel costs about €7 each way, the Loibl Pass (B91) is toll-free and scenic but slow. In Slovenia, Kranjska Gora sits just inside Triglav National Park’s gateway.
