ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
The Golden Cape (Zlatni Rt / Punta Corrente) is a protected forest park on the peninsula south of Rovinj’s old town — a stretch of pine forest, rocky capes and bathing coves laid out as a park in the 19th century by the Habsburg foresters who planted the exotic trees. It is Rovinj’s green backyard, with walking and cycling trails through the pines and a string of rocky swimming spots along the shore, and it gives the town a coast-and-forest day without leaving on a boat.
HISTORY & BACKGROUND
The story behind it
The Golden Cape was developed as a park in the late 19th century, when the Austro-Hungarian administration planted pines, cypresses and exotic species on the bare cape to create a resort forest for the growing town. It has been protected as a forest park ever since, and its network of paths and rocky bathing spots makes it the oldest landscaped park on the Croatian coast.
WHAT TO SEE
What to see here

WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
The Golden Cape is what makes Rovinj a stay rather than a stop — a forest-and-swim afternoon within walking distance of the old town, with no boat or car needed. For a visitor it is the relaxed counterpoint to the busy old-town lanes.
