ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
A guided tour of ARK D-0 is the way to enter the secret Cold War command bunker built for the Yugoslav leadership beneath a hill outside Konjic. The visit walks the access tunnel, the blast doors, the command and communications rooms and the living quarters of the facility, and it takes in the contemporary art installations of the Biennial of Contemporary Art set among them. It is a guided experience rather than a self-guided museum: the bunker is only entered with a guide, and the current schedule and booking arrangements must be confirmed in advance, as access is not guaranteed on every day of the year.

WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
ARK D-0 is one of the most unusual heritage sites in the Balkans and the single most distinctive sight of Konjic. For a visitor the guided tour is the only way to enter it, and the experience is a direct encounter with Cold War history reused as a living cultural venue.
