ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Mogren is the most popular town beach in Budva, a sheltered cove of pebble and sand just south of the old town, reached by a short cliff path cut through the rock. It is the closest good beach to the walled peninsula, which is why it fills first in summer, but it earns its place: the cove is backed by the cliff and faces west, so the water is calm and the late sun is on the beach. There are two small beaches at Mogren, Mogren I and Mogren II, separated by a short tunnel through the rock, so even when the first is busy the second is often quieter.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
What you’ll experience
You walk out of the old town’s south side and along the cliff path — a few minutes, partly cut through the rock — to the first of the two Mogren coves. The beach is pebble and sand, with beach bars and sun loungers in season, and the water is clear and sheltered. A short tunnel through the rock at the end of the first cove leads to the second, smaller and quieter beach. The west-facing position means the beach holds the sun into the evening, making it a good place to swim late and watch the light drop over the sea.

HIGHLIGHTS
Moments worth savouring
The closest good beach to Budva old town — a few minutes’ walk along a cliff path from the walls.
Two coves, Mogren I and Mogren II, linked by a tunnel through the rock, so a quieter spot is always close.
Sheltered, west-facing water that is calm for swimming and holds the late sun.
Beach bars and sun loungers in season, with the old town walls visible along the cliff.
A good evening swim spot — the west-facing cove keeps the sun until late.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Good to know before you go
Mogren is a public beach open through the warmer months, with beach bars and loungers operating in season. It is the closest beach to the old town, so in July and August it is busy from late morning; arrive early or late for space. The cliff path is short but uneven in places — wear shoes you can walk in. The beach is pebble and sand, so swim shoes help on the stones. There is no shade beyond the beach-bar umbrellas, so bring sun protection.
WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
Mogren is the beach that makes a one-day Budva visit work: it is close enough to the old town that you can wander the walls in the morning and swim in the afternoon without moving. For a visitor it is the easiest way to combine Budva’s two sides — the walled old town and the Adriatic beach — in a single day, and its west-facing cove makes it a fine place to end the day in the water.
