ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
The Courmayeur guides’ society — the first in the Alps, founded in 1850 — keeps its museum in the Casa delle Guide its patron the Duke of the Abruzzi opened in 1929. On the ground floor lie the guidebooks of deceased guides, on which clients still note what the mountain gave them; upstairs, a relief model of the Mont Blanc massif built at 1:10,000, the memorabilia of the Duke’s polar expeditions, and the K2 memorial to guide Mario Puchoz, who died on the 1953 expedition.
