Sarandë’s greatest advantage is its neighbourhood: the UNESCO World Heritage ruins of Butrint — a whole ancient city in a wetland park — lie 15 km south on a frequent bus line, and Ksamil’s postcard beaches and islands sit just beyond it. Both fit easily into a Sarandë stay as half-day or full-day trips, returning to the promenade for the evening.
