ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
Stara Planina’s eastern face is waterfall country: the streams that fall from the high meadows leap in a chain of cascades above the villages — the Kaluđerski skokovi (the monks’ leaps) above Topli Do is the most beautiful. The Jabučko ravnište’s high meadows and the villages’ lodge hospitality complete the mountain’s slow day.
HISTORY & BACKGROUND
The story behind it
The villages (Topli Do, Dojkinci) are the old shepherds’ settlements of the mountain’s shadow — the Transhumance routes ran the ridge; the waterfalls’ names (the monks’ leaps) keep the hermits’ memory. The nature-park protection (1997) guards the streams and the meadows.
