ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
Hajdučke vode is the named recreation area on the slopes of Borja, at an altitude of about 810 metres and some 23 kilometres from Teslić. It takes its name from the well-known mountain spring here — the best-known spring on Borja — and from the historical outlaws, the hajduci, who are said to have gathered in these woods. The developed complex consists of a hotel, an ethno-restaurant (Hajdučka Vatra) and a mountain wellness and spa centre, set in pine forest with a view over the historical site. Around the complex lie the outdoor recreation grounds of the mountain: walking, running and cycling trails through the pine forest, sports courts and a children’s playground. For a visitor it is the practical base for a Borja day — a place to walk the forest, eat and stay on the mountain — and it should be read as two things at once: the broader outdoor setting, which is the mountain itself, and the hotel’s privately operated facilities, whose access depends on the operator.
HISTORY & BACKGROUND
The story behind it
Hajdučke vode is named for the spring on Borja and for the hajduci, the historical outlaws who, by local tradition, gathered in groups at this spot. The recreation area grew around the spring as the developed base for visitors to the mountain, and today the complex offers accommodation, food and a wellness centre in the pine forest. The mountain around it — the pine woods, the trails and the spring itself — is the older recreation ground that the resort sits within.
WHAT TO SEE
What to see here
The Hajdučke vode spring — the best-known spring on Borja, the natural feature that gives the recreation area its name.
The pine-forest trails — walking, running and cycling trails of about 2,500 metres through the pine forest around the complex.
The mountain air and views — the “air spa” setting of Borja at 810 metres, with views over the surrounding forest and the historical site.
The hotel, restaurant and wellness centre — the privately operated complex of accommodation, the Hajdučka Vatra ethno-restaurant and the mountain wellness and spa centre (access depends on the operator).
WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
Hajdučke vode is the developed base that makes a Borja day practical — the place to eat, stay and walk on the mountain, distinct from the broader forest and from the spa at Banja Vrućica below. For a visitor it is the recreation layer of a Teslić trip, where the mountain’s outdoor setting meets a run hotel complex.
