ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Belgrade is flatter than it looks on the fortress hill, and its best cycling is entirely on the rivers. The standard ride is the Ada Ciganlija loop — 7.8 kilometres of smooth asphalt around the lake-beach, shaded by poplars, with swim stops and beer gardens the whole way. Stronger legs extend it: leave the Ada by the western dam, follow the Sava quay downstream past the marinas and the raft clubs, and finish where the Sava meets the Danube under the fortress — with the option to cross on the Ada Bridge for the New Belgrade return. Bikes rent at every Ada entrance; the whole circuit, with stops, makes an easy half-day.
