HISTORY & CULTURE
The Story Behind the Place
Biograd was a seat of the Croatian kings in the 11th century and the site of a royal coronation, but it was destroyed by the Venetians in 1125 and later by the Ottomans, leaving only fragments of its royal past. Its modern life is as a resort and sailing centre, built around its marinas and beaches.
