ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Lošinj is the greener, lower neighbour of Cres, known for its dense pine forests, a mild microclimate that made it a 19th-century health resort, and a resident population of dolphins in the Lošinj archipelago. Its capital, Mali Lošinj, is the largest town on any Croatian island — a sunny harbour of painted façades and boatyards.

HISTORY & CULTURE
The Story Behind the Place
Lošinj was largely uninhabited until the 13th century, when settlers from Cres and the mainland founded fishing villages that grew into a major 19th-century maritime and health resort. The island’s mild climate and pine forests drew the Austro-Hungarian elite, and the resident dolphins have made it a marine-protected area today.
