ABOUT THE DESTINATION
Rab is a small Kvarner island famous for its sandy beaches — above all the shallow, golden Paradise Beach (Rajska Plaža) at Lopar — and for the old town of Rab, a compact medieval settlement crowned by four distinctive bell towers. The island is greener and gentler than its neighbours, with pine woods, a car-free old town and a long nudist tradition.

HISTORY & CULTURE
The Story Behind the Place
Rab was a Roman municipality (Arba) and later a medieval commune under Venetian rule, and its old town preserves the four bell towers that define its skyline. The island became one of the first nudist tourism destinations in Europe in the 1930s, when the English king Edward VIII swam bare at Kandarola beach.
