ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
The Upper Town walk is the essential Zagreb circuit — a ride on the short funicular from the lower town up to Gradec, then a walk through the medieval lanes past St Mark’s Church, the Stone Gate and the Lotrščak Tower, ending at the cathedral on Kaptol. It is the way to see the oldest part of the capital in a couple of unhurried hours.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
What you’ll experience
You ride the funicular (one of the shortest in the world) up to the Upper Town, walk to St Mark’s Square for the tiled roof and the parliament, continue to the Stone Gate shrine, and ascend the Lotrščak Tower for the noon cannon firing and the view. From there the lanes lead down to the cathedral and Dolac market, completing the circuit.
