The Drava promenade is Osijek’s living room — a long riverside walk and cycle path along the Drava from the Tvrđa to the river beaches upstream. It is where the city walks, runs and cycles, and the river beaches along the way are the city’s swimming spots in summer. The promenade is the relaxed, green counterpoint to the baroque grid of the fortress.

The story behind it
The Drava has always been Osijek’s reason for being — the river that made it a trading and military post — and the promenade was developed in the 19th and 20th centuries as the city’s leisure front. The long cycle and walking path now links the centre to the Kopiki river beach and the upstream woods, and the promenade is the spine of the city’s outdoor life.
