ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
A boat trip to the Rovinj archipelago is the standard coast day — a short taxi-boat crossing from the harbour to one of the protected islets, where you spend the day swimming in a quiet cove, walking the pine paths and visiting the Franciscan monastery on St Andrew. The water offshore is clearer and quieter than in the town, and the crossing itself is part of the pleasure.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
What you’ll experience
You board a taxi-boat at the harbour and cross to St Andrew or one of the smaller islands in 10–15 minutes. On St Andrew you can visit the 18th-century Franciscan monastery, church and lighthouse, and swim from the rocky cove; on the smaller islets you find a cove, swim and relax in the pine shade. Boats run on a schedule in season, and you can return on any of them.

HIGHLIGHTS
Moments worth savouring
The short crossing from the harbour, with the old town behind you.
St Andrew’s Franciscan monastery, church and lighthouse.
Quiet swimming coves with clearer water than the town.
Snorkelling over the seagrass meadows between the islands.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Good to know before you go
Boat taxis run regularly in season from the harbour; the fare is paid on board. The islands have little shade beyond the pines and no facilities beyond a seasonal bar on St Andrew, so bring water and sun protection. Mornings have the calmest water for swimming and snorkelling.
WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
The archipelago is Rovinj’s best swimming and the natural second-day activity after the old town — the way to turn a town visit into a coast visit without a car.
