ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

A day trip to Krka National Park is the natural complement to a Šibenik town day — a short drive to the Skradinski Buk waterfalls, the boardwalks over the travertine pools and the boat trip to the Visovac island monastery. Unlike Plitvice, bathing is allowed in parts of Krka, so the day can include a dip as well as the waterfalls.

What you’ll experience

You drive or take a tour to the Lozovac entrance, walk the boardwalks over the Skradinski Buk waterfalls, and take a boat to the Visovac island monastery on its islet in the river. The upper Roški Slap waterfalls can be added for a longer day, and bathing is possible in the marked areas. The whole trip is a full day from Šibenik.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Good to know before you go

The park is about 15 km from Šibenik; allow a full day. The boardwalks can be slippery when wet — wear shoes with grip. Bring swimwear if you plan to bathe. The park is busiest in summer — arrive early or visit in the shoulder season.
