Dhërmi Beach
The long white-pebble beach at the foot of the village — the Riviera’s style capital, lined with beach clubs, fish restaurants and turquoise water.

Beaches & Coast
The Riviera’s style capital — a white-pebble beach under an old stone village, the monastery in the pines, and the canyon beach of Gjipe next door.
Dhërmi stacks the Riviera’s best into one stop: a long white-pebble beach lined with the coast’s smartest beach clubs below, an old stone village of hip guesthouses and churches on the slope above, the Byzantine monastery of St Mary in the pines between the two, and the canyon-bound beach of Gjipe a short drive south. Come for the water and the scene; stay for the hillside lanes, the sunset terraces and the sense that this is the coast’s creative centre.

HISTORY & CULTURE
Dhërmi is one of the oldest villages of the Labri coast — a large Christian settlement under Ottoman rule, with its own school from the 18th century and a cluster of post-Byzantine churches on its hillside. Life was on the hill: stone houses, springs, the monastery of St Mary at its heart, the shore below used by fishermen. The communist years sealed the coast; after the 1990s the beach slowly filled with bars and rooms, and from the 2000s two movements defined today’s Dhërmi — careful restoration of the old village into the Riviera’s boutique quarter, and the rise of the beach into its style capital. The result is a rare double identity: a living hill village above a polished resort shore, with Gjipe’s canyon beach keeping the wild alternative at the door.

ITINERARIES
PLAN YOUR VISIT
Dhërmi is on the SH8 under the Llogara pass — about 25 minutes south of the pass and 1 hour from Vlorë, 40 minutes north of Himarë. Buses and furgons on the Riviera line stop at the roadside above the beach; the old village and Drymades are reached on foot or a short drive. Own car is the practical choice for Gjipe (parking above the trailhead) and evening village trips.
Water shoes for the pebble beaches, reef-safe sun protection, and cash — beach bars, camps and village tavernas are cash-first. A light layer for village evenings; sturdy shoes for the Gjipe trail and canyon scramble.
The beach promenade section and beach-club entrances are step-free with assistance over the pebbles; the old village lanes and the monastery path are stepped hillside routes. Gjipe requires a 25-minute rough trail — not an accessible excursion; boat arrivals are possible but involve boarding from the sand.
