ABOUT THIS ROUTE

The route in detail

Mljet’s Great Lake is the Adriatic’s calmest paddling water: a landlocked salt lake inside the national park, warm from June, with the St Mary islet and its 12th-century monastery at its centre. Rentals and guided trips run from Pomena on the lake’s edge; the round trip to the islet is about 6 km of flat water, and the park’s evening light — when the day boats have gone — is the reward for staying late.
