ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

Camping is how the Una is meant to be experienced: wake to the river’s voice, walk to the raft, and fall asleep to the same sound. The valley’s camps grew out of the rafting scene — simple riverside sites around Bihać that pitch you between the water and the willows — and they now range from rustic raft camps to proper grounds with bungalows, kitchens and volleyball courts.

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

What you’ll experience

You choose your base by mood: a rafting camp near town for the season’s energy, Camp Buk at Kulen Vakuf (10,000 m² of riverbank inside the national park, room for 200 campers, bungalows, a restaurant of Bosnian classics) for the waterfall days, or UNA Kamp at Bosanska Krupa for the quiet northern river with wooden cottages and a terrace over the water. Days flow between swims, rafts and waterfalls; evenings belong to the grill and the river.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Good to know before you go

All camps are organised (wild camping is not allowed inside the national park); book the July–August weekends ahead; prices are modest, the welcome is genuine.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters

The Una valley is Bosnia’s camping heartland — the most river-per-metre of campsites in the country, and the way to live the river rather than visit it.
