ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Korčula is one of the southern islands where camping is genuinely well provided for. At the top of the range, the Aminess Planet Camping Port9 resort spreads through the pine forest of the Punta Križ peninsula near Lumbarda — seafront pitches, pools, a climbing wall and full services, about twenty minutes’ walk from the old town along the bay. At the other end of the island, Camp Mindel hides in an olive and almond grove near Vela Luka with famously clean facilities and sunset views. Between them sit the small family camps: Oskorušica at Kneže with its fruit trees, Vrbovica by the calm bay at Žrnovska Banja, and Potirna at the quiet far southwest for stargazers. Wild camping is strictly illegal across Croatia — the camps are the only legal option, and in Korčula’s case a good one.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
What you’ll experience
The choice sets the trip: Port9 gives a resort camp with beach, pools and a walk to the old town; Mindel gives an olive-grove quiet with beaches a short walk away; the small camps give shade, fruit trees and family atmosphere. All provide the essentials — electricity, toilets, showers — and the season runs roughly May to September. Campervans are accommodated at Port9 and most of the larger camps; the smallest are tent-oriented. From any base, the island’s beaches, wine villages and viewpoints are within an hour.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Good to know before you go
Book ahead for July and August, especially at Port9. Expect basic-to-resort facilities depending on the camp; verify current opening dates, prices and availability locally, as small camps change arrangements year to year. Wild camping is illegal and fined. Campervans should fill water and gas before the smaller camps — supply points are limited away from the towns.
WHY IT MATTERS
