ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

A circuit of the Cathedral of St James and the Šibenik fortresses is the core town experience — the UNESCO cathedral with its frieze of heads and stone dome, then an ascent to St Michael’s or Barone fortress for the panorama over the old town and the river mouth. The two together make a full day of art and viewpoint in a walkable old town.

What you’ll experience

You visit the cathedral and its baptistery, walk the steep lanes of the old town, and ascend to St Michael’s fortress above the town for the view, or to Barone on the eastern hill for the inland panorama. The seafront St Nicholas fortress can be reached by boat or the cliff path. The whole circuit is steep but short.
