ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION

Almost all of Mljet’s coast is stone and concrete platforms; Saplunara, on the island’s far southern coast, is the exception — a wide, shallow bay of genuine sand backed by pines and a scattering of small guesthouses. Shallow, warm and gently shelving, it is the island’s family beach and its best swimming for children, and its distance from everything (a good forty-five minutes’ drive from Sobra over the island’s ridge road) keeps it local even in August.
