ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
The islet of St Mary (Sveta Marija) sits in the middle of Veliko Jezero like a stage set: a single cluster of Romanesque buildings — church tower, cloister, and later fortifications — on an island you can walk around in two minutes. Benedictine monks founded the abbey here in the 12th century, and the complex later served the Republic of Ragusa before its long decline. Today it is the park’s signature view and a short, worthwhile crossing: the church and partially restored cloister are open in season, and the courtyard café makes an unhurried mid-lake stop.
