ABOUT THIS ROUTE

The route in detail

Istria’s west coast rides gently: low traffic roads and marked cycle lanes link Poreč to Novigrad and on to Umag through the wine and olive country, with the sea on one side almost throughout. The full Poreč–Umag leg is about 45 km one way — most riders split it with a Novigrad lunch stop — and the Savudrija lighthouse at the Slovenian border closes the day. Summer heat and the July–August traffic argue for May–June or September.
