ABOUT THIS ROUTE

The route in detail

The Wörthersee Rundweg is the smoothest big-lake ride in the Alps: some 42 kilometres of signed, mostly car-free cycle path around Austria’s warmest lake, passing the villa waterfronts of Velden and Pörtschach, the Maria Wörth peninsula and the lake’s swimming lidos. The Pyramidenkogel tower climb (the tallest wooden lookout in Europe) makes the mid-ride viewpoint, and the Peter Pan cycle ferry cuts the western leg for families. Bikes hire at Klagenfurt station; ice cream stops are structurally required.
