ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION
Grunas is Theth’s easiest big reward: a walk of little more than an hour up the side valley from the village, past hay meadows and shepherd huts, to a 30-metre waterfall that pours over a moss-covered lip into a fern bowl. The pool below is swimmable for the brave, the spray keeps the gorge green all summer, and the trail continues upward toward the Peja pass for those making a day of it.
HISTORY & BACKGROUND
The story behind it
The waterfall marked the boundary between the Theth and Grunas clan pastures under the Kanun — the gorge was common land where the neighbouring families’ flocks met each summer. The trail was the villagers’ wood-cutting path; the national park formalised it as the valley’s flagship short hike in the 2000s.
