ABOUT THIS ROUTE

The route in detail

The Bogodol–Velika Vlajna route climbs from the village of Bogodol onto the open limestone landscape of Čabulja northwest of Mostar. Its destination is the high ground of Velika Vlajna, where the northern side of the massif falls dramatically toward the Drežnica canyon. The route is technically straightforward but physically demanding because it gains more than one thousand metres over a 12.1-kilometre return journey.

The ascent begins at Bogodol and follows the established mountain route across the exposed southern side of Čabulja. Higher on the massif, the trail approaches the final climb to Velika Vlajna. The last ascent contains loose and unstable stone and requires careful footing even though the route is not technically complex. There is little protection from summer sun, wind or sudden weather on the open limestone terrain. Return by the same route.
