ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Walking the city walls is the one essential Dubrovnik activity — a complete circuit of the medieval walls and towers around the old town, with the marble rooftops, the Stradun and the water visible at every turn. The walk is one-way, takes 1–2 hours, and gives the famous red-roof panorama that is the image of Dubrovnik from above.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
What you’ll experience
You enter the walls at one of the gates and follow the circuit one-way around the old town, ascending the towers and the bastions. The walk rises and falls with the walls, with the Minceta tower at the highest point and the waterside bastions above the cliffs. The view shifts from the rooftops to the harbour to the open water, and the whole circuit ends back near the start.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Good to know before you go
The circuit is one-way and takes 1–2 hours; there are many steps and little shade, so wear shoes with grip and bring water in summer. Entry is by ticket. The walls are busiest from late morning — walk early or late to avoid the heat and the crowds.
WHY IT MATTERS
Why it matters
The wall walk is Dubrovnik — the single experience that captures the whole walled city from above, and the source of the image of the city that everyone takes away.
